“DC4ME made it possible for me to purchase my dream home on a budget!”

Folashade Oladipo used the DC4ME program to purchase her Ward 4 home in July 2020. Though not a native Washingtonian, Oladipo “fell in love” with Washington, D.C. when she first visited and subsequently moved here in 2016.

“I was enamored by the culture, professional space, and social atmosphere it presented. Afterwards, I made the decision to move across the country from Los Angeles to start law school and my new life here,” she said. “My relationship with the District has deepened ever since. Most of my best memories happened in D.C., and I look forward to making more awesome memories while giving back to a city that has given me so much.”

The DC4ME program helped Oladipo, an employee of the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development, achieve her goal of homeownership sooner than she thought possible. “DC4ME made it possible for me to purchase my dream home on a budget!” she said. Oladipo also took advantage of the D.C. Reduced Recordation Tax Program, which is administered by the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue, to reduce the percentage of recordation taxes she had to pay at closing.
